The Deriza Story
Deriza was founded in 2012 by Recep Aycan, a Leather Engineering graduate of Ege University. The story behind the brand began a year earlier, with a collaborative design project during his university studies.
In 2011, while Recep Aycan was in his fourth year, a project organised by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations brought leather engineering students together with fine arts students from Dokuz Eylül University. Their task was to develop a design concept using leather. Combining technical knowledge with a creative perspective, the team Recep Aycan was part of placed third in the competition.
This achievement led to an opportunity to visit a leather fair in Italy in 2012. The designs on display, the different uses of leather and Italy’s creative approach to fashion strengthened his ambition to build a brand in the field he had studied. The idea for Deriza took shape during this visit to Italy.
That experience remains at the heart of our work today in İzmir: understanding leather, bringing it into design and working it to suit its intended use. We apply this approach to collections ranging from women’s and men’s leather clothing to everyday accessories, as well as baby and children’s products through our Beybium brand.

An Approach Grounded in Leather Engineering
A leather engineering education encourages an understanding of a material beyond its colour and appearance. Structure, thickness, softness, processing and surface characteristics are considered alongside the needs of the intended product. Design connects that knowledge with an item people can use in everyday life.
Freedom of movement and fit matter in a leather jacket. A wallet calls for a useful card layout and practical closed dimensions, while a bag needs a suitable carrying system and interior organisation. For belts, leather construction, width, edge finishing and the buckle attachment are considered together. These different needs guide our material and production decisions.
The Right Leather for the Product
We select leather according to the way each product group will be used. Alongside the leather type, its thickness, finish, the product’s pattern and workmanship all contribute to the character of the finished item.
Lambskin
With its soft, supple character, lambskin is our main choice for leather jackets, outerwear, waistcoats, coats, long coats and trench coats.
Calfskin
Used for wallets, card holders, bags and other leather goods. Our classic and patent-finish men’s belts are also made from calfskin.
Buffalo Leather
Used in our casual belts. Leather construction, thickness, buckle and design are considered together with the model’s intended use.
Our classic and patent-finish calfskin belts have a nubuck calfskin underside and stitched edges. Casual belts use a different material and construction approach. You can check the leather, lining and other material details in the description of your chosen model.
Deriza Collections
Our collections bring together women’s and men’s leather clothing, bags, footwear and everyday leather accessories. Different cuts and constructions offer options for both casual use and classic dressing.
Our leather jacket, leather outerwear, leather waistcoat and leather trench coat collections are complemented by coats, long coats and leather skirts.
Alongside leather wallets, card holders, leather bags and men’s leather belts, we offer small accessories such as business card holders and keychains. Leather shoes, slippers, sandals and boots extend the range.
Production and Workmanship in Türkiye
Deriza products are made in Türkiye. From leather selection, pattern making and cutting to stitching, lining and hardware selection, assembly and final checks, production decisions take both the design and intended use into account.
Genuine leather is a natural material and may show small variations in shade and texture. This makes the selection and placement of pieces during cutting important. Stitching, edge finishing and attachment details also contribute to the appearance and construction of the finished item.
Personalisation and Gift Options
Adding a name or initials can give an everyday leather item a personal meaning. Depending on the model, our personalised wallets offer hot stamping, laser engraving, gold-coloured foil and silver-coloured foil options. Company logos can also be applied by laser for corporate gifting.
The application method, lettering position and available area depend on the product’s construction, leather surface and design. For those who prefer coordinating accessories, belt and wallet sets offer options for personal use and gifts.
Beybium: Our Brand for Babies and Children
Beybium is our brand within Deriza dedicated to babies and children. Its collections range from leather baby shoes, first-step styles, booties and moccasins to children’s sandals, boots, slippers and belts. Textile items such as children’s scarves also form part of the Beybium range.
Beybium uses genuine calfskin in its leather baby shoes and moccasins. In applying Deriza’s leather and production knowledge to these products, measurements, sole construction, fastenings and the intended stage of use are considered together. Styles that can carry a child’s name can be considered for everyday use or as gifts to welcome a baby or celebrate a first birthday. Reviewing personalisation options and sizing separately helps families choose for both appearance and intended use.
